Following a three-year break from the country, DTM returns to Russia. Next year’s DTM race will be the first international race event held at Igora Drive, located about 80 kilometres north of St. Petersburg. In addition to the modern Grand Prix track facility, the new multi-sport complex includes a motocross and rallycross course, an SUV-site park, a driving safety centre and a kart circuit. The anti-clockwise 4.086-kilometre Grand Prix circuit was designed by the office of world-famous track designer Hermann Tilke, and has eight left- and six right-hand turns.

St. Petersburg is a Russian port city on the Baltic Sea. It is Russia's cultural center, with venues such as the Mariinsky Theatre hosting opera and ballet, and the State Russian Museum showcasing Russian art, from Orthodox icon paintings to Kandinsky works. St. Petersburg's nights are famous: During so called 'White Nights' around June it never gets darker than twilight. The huge Neva bridges are drawn up to let ships pass for several hours each night - a spectacular sight during the White Nights.
